arm bone connected to the. . .

Have I ever mentioned that my daughter wants to be a doctor?  Well she does, and has since she was 3, maybe before, I can't remember, but I have it written down somewhere.  Holy run-on, anyway. . . she's also in a phase where she breaks everything, well I'm hoping it's just a phase and not permanent clumsiness setting in.  Once again, I digress. . . so I find all sorts of items broken and after a few talks about hiding things from Mommy, I've now started to find these broken objects on her table in the office. . .

. . . she's fixing them herself, with her handy-dandy glue.  This poor fellow lost his arm to a 4-year-old's big muscles and I don't have high hopes for his recovery.  I do believe he may be scarier with just one arm however, so he won't be out of a job.  I applaud her efforts to remedy her mistakes, but I think we'll need another talk about this issue.  ;)

blog smog

What?  I know it's been a few days.  Thanks for counting Kari.  I'm busy, and honestly, can't think of anything to type in this big white space. . . so I'll just try to randomly fill it to appease my sister for another ten, or so days.

So we took Miley to see Frankenweenie.  She really wanted to go.  We may have traumatized her.  Not Tim Burton's best work, kinda slow, kinda boring, oh yeah and a dog dies.  Did I mention creepy and slightly disturbing for a kid?  I had my reservations about going in the first place, cause I don't like watching kids or animals die.  . . at all, ever.  But it's a Burton and he is weird and it just looks cool so we went.  Miley came out saying, 'that movie was a disaster' and 'I do not like cats'.  Amen sister.  At least she won't be asking for a cat anymore, for awhile at least.  Maybe I'll buy the movie to remind her how evil cats are if it comes up again.  ;)  We took her out for a sugar cookie afterward and all thoughts of scary cats and dead dogs were replaced with frosting and sprinkles.  She does love Corpse Bride and Nightmare Before Christmas, so maybe it would take a lot more to traumatize this girl.

I got three more shots this week, Dave got one, and Miley got a flu shot.  Dave whined the most.  ;)  I have two more shots to go and I will be completely immunized and may be invincible to zombies and possibly nuclear war.

Had a melt down at church when the Primary lost my kid.  Heads rolled cause I was angry, that's what my melt downs look like.  ;)  Of course we found her, with no help from them, but whatever.  I said my peace and now they are a little frightened of me and will keep an extra eye on my child.  Not that I'm relying on that at all.  Miley was actually very smart about being deserted by her leaders.  She went to a place where she could see our car out the window and waited for us.  She was just fine, chatting with friendly strangers.

As for adoption updates, we get those at the beginning of every month so I'll have possibly new information about how things are progressing shortly.  We just wait and don't bother them in the meantime.  They said they are referring children to people who have been waiting exactly the amount of time we have been waiting, between 10-12 months, so fingers crossed once again we'll hear something soon.  I know.  You cannot be as frustrated as I am, so please understand and don't complain to me.  ;)

We are doing family pictures this weekend.  Have I mentioned how much they stress me out?  I just can't seem to change that feeling every year.

Added more decorations to the Halloween repertoire this year, because I'm doing a party for the YW here in my spooky house.  Thought about adding things that would scare the crap out of them. . . but haven't done it.  What I have might be enough.  It did make my home teachers seem a little nervous, or confused.  ??  I'll take a video and show you around.

Dave is thinking about changing up his look after Miley made a comment about his hair.  She said a guy in an ad looked like her Daddy.  He was short, blonde, dressed for karate.  I couldn't see the resemblance so I asked how.  She pointed to the hair and then made a teepee with her hands on her head and said, 'he has a little thorn'.  A thorn?  'Yeah like a horn, but little.'  ha ha

Miley told me this morning while doing her hair for school, that her feet did not believe that it was Monday, they were sure it was Tuesday and that they wanted to walk back into her room and change into play clothes.  Then they changed their mind and thought it was Sunday and needed to go to church.  I told her that her feet were just sleepy and confused so I tickled them until they were ready to go to school.  ;)

I colored some noodles for Miley to use as beads and make necklaces.  She was hard at work stringing them and proudly told me, 'Look mom I can sew'.  And then she would from time to time say 'ouch'.  I asked what happened and she would tell me she pocked herself with the needle.  At one point she dramatically flailed her hand around and yelled, 'oh dang it, ouch ouch ouch'.  I guess she's noticed how I sew.  ;)

My phone case broke this week.  I think Miley was involved somehow.  Anyway, I think it is a sign that I need a new phone.  ;)

Had to suffer through another activity at the corn maze.  I would really like someone to explain to me how that dang thing is any fun. ??  Did I enjoy things like that as a teenager?  I don't recall, but I have my doubts.

I have to make sure Miley is dressed before I can get dressed in the morning or else we will most definitely be twins.  She is very much in love with the idea of matching our outfits.  She even rolled up her jeans like me the other day.  I instantly, had flashbacks to growing up with my little sister/shadow.  ;)

Nilla has decided that she does in fact like Miley, and possibly even as a BFF.  She will do tricks at her command and come to her without a problem.  She lets her dress her up in jewelry and wants to lay by her all the time.  Miley is a very good belly scratcher, and Nilla is in heaven.  It's quite a turn around for a dog who thought Miley was a little monster when she first came home.  On the flip side, Bear liked her a lot more as a baby.

I am feeling laden down with my list at the moment.  Between the adoption and every day stuff I feel like I'm not prepared enough and don't have enough time for anything else.  My book stack is quite thick with adoption materials, and they are emotionally heavy as well.  I have to get over the fact that I will not know or be prepared for everything that could happen, but that seems almost impossible for me to accept.  If I don't have time to read through everything now, I definitely won't later.  This is why the blog is languishing in the cobwebs of my list right now.  Sorry.  I think because things seem to be moving forward to the end, I am in the 'hurry and cram for a test' mode, even if that is an inaccurate assessment of the time remaining.  I can't really explain the crazy that is my mind these days. . . or most any day for that matter.  ;)  Just lots to do, and most of it is good and fun projects, but projects nonetheless.

Miley is learning how to read.  She's busy memorizing sight words and working on sounding things out.  It's exciting, and exhausting cause now she wants to read the books which takes even more time.  ;)  See, I'm stretched in every way with things.  I'm going to have her start reading one of my inter-racial adoption books and have her give me a synopsis.

The weather finally chilled enough for me to get out my jeans.  HALLELUJAH!  Though some days that means wearing them as capris cause the chill part is only evident in the shade.  I am so happy about Fall coming, but now I am also reminded that Christmas is coming and Miley has no room in her room for any more toys.  ;)  Time to purge.  Yay!  If kid will let me.

Dave is totally into the politics this year.  I am less enthused, but now thoroughly informed.  I'll be happy when election season is over, especially if the candidates I agree with win.  ;)  Looking forward to my 'I voted' sticker and a break from hearing debates and commentary every night.

I've stayed my hour (with my Scottish accent) and now I must go make some jelly brains.  I'm sure you need to do the same so I won't keep you any longer.  Thanks for stopping by today.

creeping a bit

We're feeling pretty spooky around here lately.  Miley keeps asking me to add more spiders to her costume, and Dave wants me to add more fur to his.  Their costumes may never meet their spooky expectations.  ;)

I accidentally stabbed myself while working on them and Dave told me that technically, mummies wouldn't be bloody so I shouldn't have used my costume to stem the flow.  So much for realism.  I should have used Miley's she's a zombie.  ;)

More spookiness this month included this sunset sky one evening. . . .

I could have sworn that I had never seen GI Joe: The Rise.  I mean, why would I go see such a dumb movie?  Dave was sure that we had seen it in the theater.  He recapped the plot, still no recollection.  He rented it and made me watch the dumb thing, presumably, again.  Nope, no spark of a memory.  Later while cleaning out some paperwork I found this stub. . .  Why the crap would this be kept, and for years, seriously?  Oh man, so spooky that I didn't remember the movie at all despite evidence that I had actually paid money to see it, spooky number two that I have clutter anywhere in my house that would hold a lame movie stub, and the spookiest of all. . . Dave was right!  That one really freaked me out. ;)

Spooky crafts going on continually. . .

A crazy video of my girl. . .

And a spooky walk down memory lane. . . Miley's Halloween costumes thus far. . . and take a look at the crazy amount of drool present in this first one.  ;)

After looking through these it appears as if this girl doesn't really enjoy dressing up or this holiday, but in reality she's just really good at the spooky face, and I apparently choose those pics over the smiley ones every time.  ;)

. . .you know, for no particular reason, just cause we love you. . . and it's your birthday, but we would be thinking about you even if it wasn't.  Hope it is an exceptional day!  Miley drew this picture for you and can't wait to send it to you, no seriously, she's bugging me right now for an envelope and stamps.  ;)

Happy Happy Birthday!

oOoOOOoooooohhhh

Ok, so it's October and maybe you were thinking that I'd have a spooky post at least to celebrate the first day, or possibly every day. . . yeah well, I'm a slacker like that and have nothing so grand planned.  Sorry to disappoint.  ;)

Join the club, Miley is also disappointed that Halloween is not, in fact, every day this month.  She was panicked on the 30th, because I had not sewn the spiders on her leggings yet for, you know, the 1st day of October, aka Halloween.

I'm sure I'll think of something spooky to post shortly. . . for now I'm digging out my Halloween stuff and clearing off counter and wall space to display it.  Yay!  Stay tuned.

And in a very unrelated P.S. to all the grandparents. . . I've done Miley calendars in the past for you, would you like one for this coming year?  Don't worry, I won't be heartbroken if you don't require one.  Just let me know.  Thanks!
