not Tippi

She had no problem playing with my Halloween props. . . the creepiest ones I believe. . . probably cause she never saw the movie where they attacked everyone.  I'll keep it that way for awhile more.  ;)

October is around the corner, are you ready?

shiny happy people

I thought I should post something, but all I've got are gripes right now, ok well that's not true that just happens to be all that wants to come out when I type. . . nothing big, just everyday bummers.  So if you are one of those annoyingly perky types this is for you to read. . . you know, to make me feel more normal, cause that endless smiling thing is really freaking me out. ;)

The Typhoid vaccine makes me tired.  It is a series of pills over a week's time and I am feeling exhausted by it.

I still have three more vaccines to go and one of them involves four shots.  I still have a big red mark on my arm from the Yellow Fever one.

I missed talk like a pirate day.  Forgot it completely.

We are so done with DirectTV.  They are a bunch of punks.

I got a mosquito bite, the only one this year which is good, but still disappointed I got one at all, cause it makes me think of malaria and more meds.

I got a new church calling and I'm trying to be happy about that.

Miley wants to be a fairy for Halloween now.  I'm ignoring this request.

Found out after we upgraded to whatever-big-cat-operating-system most-recently-released that it erased the videos I had saved in the Photobooth app (just little videos taken sitting at my computer with Miley). . . apparently that application is shiny and new and replaces the older one completely.  I should have exported them, my bad, but still sad.

I got a big mean bruise on my arm, so impressive in fact that it inspired Miley to draw a picture of it, actually two. . .

I can see a giant spider web outside my window, even though I asked the bug man to spray there.  Hoping it's not a black widow.  Shudder.

It may be the Typhoid talking, but I can't get into making Halloween stuff.  Yeah, has to be the disease in me.

My office is a mess from the Halloween projects that I am too sleepy to finish, or start.

Got an email from our adoption agency telling me that they forgot to charge me for some things. . . . so here's another bill.  Gee thanks.  ;)

Mie brought home her first head cold of the school season.  Fingers crossed it won't be as snotty of a school year this time around.

Thinking about family pictures and trying to come up with something interesting. . . so far, got nothing. Ideas, I can steal, or borrow?

Now I need to go sing Count your many Blessings and then possibly a nap, or a cupcake, or another nap.  ;)

Trying to work up some Halloween spirit here. . .

4-year-old thoughts

Miley was talking about her family one afternoon and mentioned her mother.  I asked who she was talking about and she told me that it wasn't me.  I enquired further, and here is what I got as explanation. . .

Miley:  You don't look like a mother.
Me:  What do I look like?
Miley:  You look like a mom.

We were watching cartoons and those pesky commercials in between. . . A garbage bag commercial came on about how we could save a HUGE amount of plastic waste by using their garbage bags.  Miley huffed and said, 'we could just throw our garbage in the can and not the bag.'  Genius.  ;)

Miley refuses to call Nilla, Nilla.  She always says 'Lilla', which started of course when she couldn't pronounce it correctly. . . . but she can now, I checked, and yet she asserts that that is not her name, it is in fact Lilla.

Miley asked me what color her shirt was one day.  She likes to quiz me on things like that, to keep my old-person senses sharp.  I told her it was navy blue, which was in fact right, so I'm not senile yet.  However, she sadly shook her head and gave me the eyebrows of disappointment, 'Mom, it's black.  It only looks blue sometimes in the light.'  I guess I failed that pop quiz.

We got kiddo some new goggles for swimming and she loves them.  One evening while trying them out and doing a pretty good imitation of actual swimming, head down plowing forward and splashing a lot in the process, she came up for air and asked, 'Did I look just like the Olympics?'  Yep girlie, you did.  ;)  Here's a little swimmin. . . she's turning into a fishy.

Miley loves watching home movies of herself as a baby.  She's just so 'adorabaly'.  That's what she says anyway.  ;)  That or 'lovely', those are her favorite adjectives.  Here is a clip of Miley asking Dave to recreate the video she was watching. . . who knows why. . .

While preparing my Sunday lesson on dating, Miley asked what it was about.  I explained dating and how she will get to do it when she is MUCH older.  She matter-of-factly pointed out that she already goes on dates with Daddy.  I conceded that point and said she couldn't go with any other boys until she was older.  She replied, 'I can just go with Daddy.  He is sooo cute.'

Miley decided to put on an impromptu puppet show one evening with family.  She set up her stage and brought out her stuffed animals for the performance.  She assigned parts and I got my camera out.  After the first performance I put it away.  She re-cast her show and immediately turned to me and expectantly said, 'Mom, go get your camera'. . . and that is why I have these videos (only part of the scenes) for you. . .  there were grand bows at the end and I think even some calls for an encore, but by then my camera was once again turned off.

the favorite dating lesson

I actually liked preparing this lesson.  (Lesson 31, manual 1)  I know teenagers don't love hearing it, but I thought it was full of practical and logical advice for having good relationships in your youth and preparing for important ones later on.

Anyway, here is the handout I made for it. . . this little tag attaches to a ring pop, you know those candy rings?   ;)

Using the above mormonad as a prop.  Also goes along with my sweet handout.  Found this file below, of an application to date my daughter.  I tweaked it a bit, thought it was funny and might give it to the girls parents.  ;)

Made this as a little poster to explain relationships and appropriate timing for them. . . . ie not when you're a teenager.  ;)

looking ahead

Trying on some outfit options for Halloween. . . .

Check out her awesome ballet skills.  .  .

Of course, in the end, it will be a lot spookier, but still pretty cute. . .
