. . . They really drive me crazy, but I'm trying to be positive here so we'll see how that goes.
So we spent last week in
Idaho with my fam celebrating my sister's wedding. A couple pics as proof that they in fact went through with it. . .
It was delightful and de-lovely. Tiff hates that phrase. ;) Tiff and Josh looked happy and calm even. Perfect. It was a great day. One of those days where even when my daughter is screaming outside the temple because I want to take her picture or just have her hold still. . . I could still feel that
pure joy radiating from the happy couple. . . Thanks guys. We're so happy for you both!
I got to help lace her into that dress. That was work. I got to take some of their pictures as well. That was more work. It's amazing how exhausting a wedding can be when you're not even the one getting married. I kept thinking about being in her shoes and couldn't remember how I survived it. No sleep, all nerves, smiles, and corsets. I'm glad it wasn't me this time, I wouldn't have survived again I think. I barely survived as it was, but that I blame on the two-year-old and a little bit on the weather.
You know how they say sugar doesn't actually cause rambunctiousness or that bounce-off-the-walls reaction? Yeah, I believed that until Saturday night at Tiff's
SWEET reception (which was adorable too). Miley was literally shaking with excitement for another bite of cotton candy. Scary. Add on handfuls of people who spoil her which meant Dave and I were pretty much ineffectual in the 'let's not put her in a sugar coma' argument.
I was fully prepared to be frozen the whole week long. I brought layers and a warm blanket to drag with me everywhere. However, Idaho weather is screwy. I forgot. It starts out freezing, gets warm, and then freezes again. After typing that I'm pretty sure that sounds like normal weather. Weird. It was truly weird and annoying to me though cause it changed all day long. When we left home for Idaho it was 79 degrees (at 8:30 am) and would have been that all day long. I'm not good with change. How much do you hate it when I talk about/complain about the weather? Yeah, I agree. Lame. Moving on.
The happy couple had an open house a hundred miles away in Pocatello. We were totally running late due to some curler issues and nap times with Mie. . . so all I saw of Pocatello was technically only Chubbuck and the church building where they received guests. Oh well. Good intentions. I did get to see my favorite person and that made the drive worthwhile and then a little bittersweet to leave again. Sad.
We tried out curly hair on the mie monster for the first time on this trip. Man those spongy curlers work. It was crazy to see her with curly hair, so I tied them into pig tails to control the chaos. I'm not sure I got a very good picture because our lovely girl acted like a rock star with paparazzi. I do have a picture to prove that, but it hasn't come up on the editing block yet. I'll definitely post it when it does, because it is proof that taking our family picture this year will no doubt be hell on the photographer. ;) Love ya Brit.
So did you notice that my brother didn't make this sibling pic? Yep, he decided to add more to our week by having his baby on the
very same day. Well, Breht did all the work actually. We missed them in the temple, but on the plus side, it will help Josh remember his anniversary. . . when he has a little nephew to ask when his birthday is. So between the sealing, luncheon, naps (for me and Mie) and reception we were hospital visiting. Meeting baby Jett and congratulating his tired and yet thrilled parents. Sadly no
red hair. . . yet. I hope it will come in that way. Oh and I didn't even get a picture. I forgot my camera. Lame me.
Miley enjoyed holding new baby boy until she realized he didn't do much, even when she poked him. And she was less than happy when I wouldn't let her hold him and walk around by herself. This has however, sparked a new interest in her baby dolls (including her giant tinker bell) at home. They have been loved consistently since we've been back.
Now for a note on car rides. . .
I really can't figure out how children traveled before the advent of portable DVD players. I don't know how anyone could survive that. Miley happily watched Tinker Bell 3 at least four times. Yep, good parenting.
Our two year old could only tolerate
one road trip and thankfully that was on the way up otherwise we would have turned around and went back home. As it was, being naughty on the way home nullified the threat to in fact, take her home.
How come everything can fit so nice in a suitcase and car the first time and turn into 'cram it into where ever it fits' on the way back?
Why is it when you thoughtfully pack everything and then give your husband only two small items to remember to bring that he'll
forget them both and then question whether you remembered to bring his socks? Seriously, socks? Like we couldn't just buy some more if in fact I did forget (which I didn't). Umm, hon, did you remember to bring our recommends? . . .
