Cuteness update

Cute, sure. . . troublemaker, a more appropriate title right now.
Tiff keeps asking for more M photos, so here they are. . . however, M turns 9 months next week and this is stepping on the toes of that traditional post quite a bit. Impatient girl. Oh well, I am eager to please, here is a little update:

Mie loves snacks. She loves to feed herself. She would forgo all baby food and formula just for the Cheerios, Rice Krispies, and blueberry puffs. She's not so interested in other real food except bread. She loves bread. A girl after my own heart.
The rejected list. . . Mashed potatoes, gag. . . bananas, gag. . . juice, gag. . . cheese, gag.

Teeth! We have teeth. And now we have proof too. Here are her twinners that popped up at the same time.
This is just a pic of my sad girl. . . wishing her daddy would come back from running errands.
Here's where the trouble begins. . . this is her new favorite thing to do in the living room. She loves to dump out her toy basket and go through all the toys.
Milk messes, her specialty. This happens when she feels like the bottle has not been shaken up enough. Apparently she disapproves of how her parents serve her beverages.
Nilla is very interested in M after she finishes a meal. She is looking for any leftovers M might have missed. Nilla is loving the new high chair. It brings back fond memories of licking clean the M & M twins (who belong to Dave's cousin) and their high chairs.
We never would have guessed that Mocha would be such a good baby dog. As most anyone can attest, she is not fond of other people, however, she loves M, ever since we brought her home. You'll find Mocha in close proximity to baby M in lots of pics, especially if someone other than us is holding her. She's her guard dog. Mocha doesn't even mind when M tries to grab her shiny collar. . . or even her tail, the other day (which we do not condone or encourage, despite what the photo may show). ;) What a patient pooch.
We have a ghost. It moaned awhile and then wailed a bit, until. . .
I set it free, then it squealed with delight and banged on the door some more.
I told you the weather has been chilly. M agrees. She bundled herself up in her blanket. The 60s are cold here.

Earth Day

happy earth day. I actually didn't realize it was earth day until I heard it on the news tonight. oops. But it turns out that I did do a couple of earthy things today nonetheless.

First, I got to dress my bed with new organic bedding freshly laundered with organic detergent. Love it. Loving the beautiful clean white right now. Hoping it will stay that way. Not sure about the red pillow yet. I'm thinking I'll look for something white with a different texture. Then I took the packaging and recycled it all. Loving curbside recycling. It has reduced our trash to a mere third of it's former disgusting glory. I couldn't be more thrilled with this. I keep expecting to see the landfill reach over the hill into view at any time. Hopefully, we're helping a little to keep that from coming to be.Miley did her part by eating tons of food so mommy could recycle the containers, and sharing said food with our poor starving dogs. They did their part by cleaning up the mess that would have ended up in the trash. See, it's a family effort. We are so earthy here.

And then I pulled some weeds. I'd say it was a successful earth day. ;)

Misc. Photos

Tasting the other end and wasting her lunch at the same time.
Dave's hair is getting HUGE. . . I haven't wanted to cut it because there will be so much hair to clean up. . . and the longer I wait the worse it will be. Oh well, he's in charge of clean up anyway.
Kristel and Mie. I have a lot of cute pictures of them together. I love that!

Relaxing on her Daddy. She insists on hanging out with him on his days off. She practically demands his attention.
Learning to be cheesy with Mom.
The stink face. I still think it's cute, even when accompanied with the whines.
Trying out a new trick. . . how far can I stick my tongue out. . . can I touch my nose?
Poor tired out poochies after one of our walks. The weather is playing with us, we'll have gorgeous walk weather for days and then we'll get freezing cold again. . .like in the 60s. ;)
Hanging out with fam on Easter. This is Miss Marissa who kindly shared her sparkly necklace with Miley.
Being a big kid is great.
Using her new big kid high chair. She loves it, and I love not having that stupid Bumbo on my counter anymore.

Because I was asked to. . .

If you've been around since the humble beginnings of this blog then you've probably read enough 'things about me'. . . but I've been tagged again to do one, and it's been awhile so I'm going to attempt to add 25 things about me that I haven't used previously.

1. I do not like cooked tomatoes. Fresh tomatoes I can eat like an apple, but cooked in any form is not appealing to me.

2. I can roll and ripple my tongue.

3. I am slightly obsessed with picking weeds. I find it quite satisfying to eradicate them, and am tempted to do it in other people's yards when I go for walks.

4. I enjoy yoga. My goal is to be able to do a perfect crane. . . not there yet.

5. Lately my craft of choice is making mini albums. So far they are all about Miley, but I intend to branch out. Wait, I do have a couple that aren't strictly Miley. I'll post again with some photos of these projects. They are fun to do.

6. I've had pets my whole life, and I seriously do not consider my family complete without a dog. I love my girls so much. They just make me happy.

7. I've never liked the fact that my first, middle and last name all have the same number of letters. I'm not sure why this bothers me, but it does. Even after getting married, I'm still stuck in the same five letter boat.

8. Peanut butter makes me sick, but I love it. I love the smell of burritos and enchiladas, but can't stand eating them, yuck. There is obviously some disconnect going on with my senses.

9. I have a plant that I've kept alive for two whole years. This is a miracle. I didn't name the plant in the first place because I assumed I shouldn't get attached. . . and now I'm afraid if I do it will be a death sentence for the poor thing no matter how healthy it may be.

10. For Miley my thing right now is butterflies. I'm not a theme person in general, but I am loving butterflies on stuff right now. . .clothes, art, and a piece I'm going to make for her play room.

11. My closet is organized by color. Actually, lots of things in my house are organized by color. Weird.

12. I love to buy dishes and glasses. I don't cook, but I love finding interesting pieces to just own I guess. Usually these are patterned plates, but oddly shaped bowls peak my interest as well. They don't see a lot of use, and sometimes I'm surprised to see what I have.

13. I don't like using glue. I really hate the stuff. Maybe it's just me, but I always end up sticky or worse, my project does. I avoid it if at all possible.

14. I have a love/hate relationship with my freckles (on my face). When I was a teenager I actually tried skin bleach to remove them. I didn't try for long though. At some point much later on I accepted them and now I don't even use all that makeup crap to hide them. Although it does help that they've faded quite a bit. ;)

15. My thumbs are perfectly straight. They don't curve back at all, so I guess I would be a lousy hitch-hiker.

16. I don't like to buy matching furniture or bedding sets. I like to mix and match everything. This goes for scrapbooking and pretty much everything I do. I think it's because it makes it feel more like me or mine that way.

17. I have a fear of the optometrist. I had a traumatic experience with an eye test as a child and ever since then I get all nervous when I get my eyes checked for anything. . . including the short little exam for my driver's license. I know I must be insane to hold on to this silly phobia. My eye sight is perfect and will remain so by shear force of will so as to avoid any incidence with the scary doctor.

18. I have a serious sweet tooth, but I don't like chocolate cake or chocolate ice cream. Actually, ice cream in general is not my thing unless it's homemade.

19. As a child I didn't like potatoes in any form, and since I lived in Idaho I was lucky they didn't have me banished or something. Since then I have slowly grown to love every form of potato cuisine. Some as recent as during my married life. This does not include the sweet potato however.

20. My favorite book right now is The Host. It's weird. I love it. I could read it over and over again.

21. I have a permanent retainer in my mouth. Along my bottom teeth there is a metal bar cemented to keep them in place.

22. Speaking of teeth, recently I had to have a cavity filled. For the first time ever, (to show Dave that I was as tough as him) I asked not to be numbed for the ordeal. It was so worth it to miss out on that stupid injection. I hate needles. It didn't actually hurt at all, so although I am not anticipating the need to do it again, I'll be more than willing to forgo the numb juice.

23. I am turning 30 this year. I am not freaked out about this. It's strangely no big deal, however, I am on the constant lookout for my face to be attacked by wrinkles. I spent way too much time in the sun as a kid, so I'm trying to limit those consequences as much as possible now.

24. I haven't left the country, but if and when I do it will be to Greece and Italy. I love renaissance art and want to be there.

25. I have very little gag reflex. I can touch my uvula with my finger and not throw up. That's a nice one to finish the list with, right?

OK, so that was easier than I thought it would be. You'll have to be the judge if any of this information is even new, compared to my old surveys. Congrats on making it through the whole list without getting bored and stopping. There should be a prize. . . but there isn't.

More angry posting

I hate Utah drivers. I'd rather live in California at this point. Some inconsiderate person, whom I'm trying not to cuss out in my head, hit my car in the parking lot and took off. Of course they took off, that's what they do here. We saw it happen just a couple of weeks ago to someone else. Our insurance agent says it happens weekly down here, and that's just the calls that he gets. I've got to say that I am so not impressed with the quality of our fellow drivers. Apparently we're running low on consciences here. Right after we bought our car someone keyed it here too. I should have seen worse coming; the foreshadowing was there. Oh well. I just needed to vent.

*I realize that many of my readers are in fact Utah drivers, and I would apologize for my generalized criticism, but I'm too angry and just can't absolve anyone at this time. ;)

Surviving Mondays

I need to complain a little, but I'll end with a funny/gross story that should make the read worthwhile. . .

Miley is getting her two bottom teeth in. . . and as we all know, she does not cope with pain well. So cranky, and the teeth aren't helping any, coming as slowly as possible. Sorry, no pics, she doesn't like people seeing them.

Dave spent the entire morning on the phone with various government agencies trying to figure out what was wrong with our taxes. A side note, I had to do them twice because the first didn't get saved. Crap. Oh well, the second time it was pretty easy, not fun, but easy. Anyway, this is a long story filled with many opportunities for me to rant about incompetence, but I'll summarize it like this: First, problem with Mie's birth certificate. . . hospital's fault. Second, problem with Mie's social security number. . . not sure who to blame, but I'm pretty confident that the IRS is the problem here. Third, problem with filing taxes because of previous problems. Fourth, problem with government workers that don't understand their own jobs. Stupid. Their grand advice, wait and see if the system figures itself out. Genius. OK, so this put Dave in a super mood.

Now I have two crankies in the house. Delightful.

Meanwhile the carnage continues on our patio. The reflectors haven't quelched the massacre as much as I would like. I'm not a fan of birds, but I've become even less of a fan when they smash into my windows and I have to deal with their dead bodies. The big ones don't die usually, most of the time they just end up sitting by my door staring blankly for a very long time. I don't know which is worse. I'm leaning toward the second. I'm not completely cold hearted, it does make me sad, though the dominant feeling would have to be creeped out.

It's spring and all of a sudden I can't stop sneezing. Stupid allergies. I never had them like this until I moved here. Just another reason to escape Utah I guess. Miley is suffering from her own form of allergies or teething. Lots of bogeys in our house. I'm sure you want a picture of this one, so I'll happily post that prettiness. . .

The dentist gave us good news as well. I have a cavity. :( Dave does too, but that isn't a shocker. Next Monday I'll have to survive the drilling, if I can make it past the needles that is.

Dave beat some of my high scores on the Wii, and I haven't gotten them all back yet. Grrr. Make that three cranky people here.

And finally. . . Dave was taking M into her room to change her diaper for bed when I hear him yell for me urgently. I run in there worried, expecting blood or something awful and I find Dave standing shell-shocked by the changing table with poop all over his hands and shirt. Ha ha. Mie is crying because she's freaked out that Dave freaked out. Nice one. So I punch him, and tell him to go freak out somewhere else so I won't have to clean up his vomit off of my already poopy child. I'm glad I didn't have to witness his dry heaves, he definitely would have got punched again for that one. So it turns out that our little angel made a substantial deposit and Dave squeezed her too hard in one of his hugs and then laid her down on the changing table thus expelling more feces. . . everywhere. After they were both hosed off it was all fine. Well, fine for Miley and I. . . Dave is probably traumatized. No pictures of this one, that would probably make it even worse for him. Drama.

A piece of good news we received on Monday. . . our refrigerator hasn't been recalled due to fire hazard. yay. Well at least that is something.

Oh it is love

I remember seeing a wedding dress years ago in a store window that had this pin-tucked kind of thing going on. I thought it was beautiful and wanted to buy it for my sister, though she was only like 18 at the time. . . my logical side stopped me from that craziness, but since then I've always remembered it. When I saw this duvet cover, I fell in love again. I love white, and this showed up at the perfect time. . . spring re-decorating. My bedroom needs an update! I'm so excited.
