Matilda! The Musical

Our girls got a second go at Matilda!  They were very pleased because this time around they got the parts they always wanted.  Miley is Miss Honey and Jovey is Lavender.  Miley's mic was not working properly for this show, but she did great at projecting anyway.

Miley is a storyteller.  You'll see her in a long blue dress narrating the show.  Jovey is first, a little dragon, and then a tap dancing rat, and finally one of the 3 blind mice.  Both girls were on stage crew and loved feeling the responsibility for the sets, even though the sets on this show were pretty simple compared to their last stage crew experience.

Matilda! Jr.

Jovey really wanted to get the part of Lavender, but she was so much taller than her friend who was cast as Matilda that she had to be cast as an older kid instead.  They asked me to make her hair smaller so she wouldn't look even taller than she already is.  Crazy.  She had fun as an older kid though and loved all the dances.  She especially loved her really comfy costume for this show.  She wasn't too hot or itchy and she felt super cute.

Miley also had  aspirations to be Miss Honey, but that didn't work out and she got the role of parent/teacher.  She amazes me with her good attitude.  She got a bad deal in choreography and there were some real issues with the leadership on this show, but she made the best of it and worked so hard.  She did stage crew and had fun despite it all.  She didn't want me to mama bear fix it, or at least make some heads roll, and it killed me not to.  But if she's treated poorly again, I will.  She shines on stage, so this experience won't dim her light.

It's a fun show and the girls loved being a part of it!

It's her day!!

Chunky Monkey + Jovey

 I've been so swamped busy for the past month that I almost forgot about Chunky Monkey pics.  Jovey, however, did not.  She said, "Mom we need to take my pictures today."  And she was right.  Done and done.  She looks too big.  Dang 5-almost-6-year-old.

 I'm suddenly less busy, just in time to celebrate sweet Jo's birthday.  Hooray!!

I told her that I changed her name to 5-year-old, so that even though she may be six I can still call her that.  She wasn't pleased.

Kindergartner!

Jovey has been waiting for Kindergarten to start, since preschool ended.  She was so excited to go to school!  She had her outfit picked out and sitting on her chair for over a week in anticipation.

This pink shirt outfit was not the special pick.  On Monday she had a part day where the parents go with her and check out her classroom and fill out paperwork and talk to the teacher.  She did not count this as her first day of school.  Even though we had already had back to school night previously.  So, she couldn't wear her school outfit, but she still wanted pictures taken.  I mean, she'd probably request them everyday if she knew I would be up for that.  ;)

 I don't know what's with her foot popping pose.  I asked her about it afterward and she just shrugged.  

First day of school!  The outfit she picked the hair she wanted.  Everything worked out fine.  Oh, and she got the teacher she wanted and the time I wanted!  Yay for Kindergarten!

 Jovey said, her real first day wouldn't include so many adults, well except her teacher.  She was happy to be rid of us that morning.  Miley proudly walked her to her playground had a little chat with Jo's teacher and neither of them even looked back.

Kindergarten is a winner in Jovey's book.  She even gets to go to library, which she couldn't stop raving about.  ;)

I asked her if she missed me, and she said nope, but then she wanted to cuddle with me and watch a cartoon, so maybe that answer wasn't completely honest.  ;)

We can Fly

It's summer play time again.  Both girls did the play this time.  Peter Pan Jr.  Auditions, three weeks of rehearsals, and then three performances.  They LOVED it all.

I only took short clips of the first performance, because the show was being recorded for us by a company.  And after watching it three times and multiple times rehearsing at home, it is pretty much seared into my brain now.  ;)

Because I have pictures and I should post something. . . in March we lost some things. . .

 We were sad to see them both go.  But we'll keep moving forward.  To new hair and new teeth.  ;)
